Dylan Critchfield-Sales was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (Baltimore, MD). He completed his Master of Fine Arts at The Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts at Indiana University.
In the Fall of 2012 he was the Artist in Residence at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art and since then has taught drawing and painting at the University of South Carolina. He has received The Elizabeth Greenshields Grant, once in 2009 and a second time in 2016 which enabled him to teach and paint in Civita Castellana, Italy this past summer.
